Order is explicit
Files merge in the order shown in the list, not by filename or selection order, and the arrows let you set that order before merging. This matters because scanners often name files in a sequence that sorts incorrectly — page 10 landing before page 2 is the classic case. Check the list against the intended order before running the merge.
The output inherits its sources
Merging concatenates page objects, so the result is roughly the sum of its inputs in size and keeps each source's page dimensions. Mixing A4 and Letter produces a document with both, which is valid but prints inconsistently. Bookmarks, form fields, and signatures from the originals may be dropped, so verify anything signed before discarding the sources.
