PDF tasks are rarely about editing the document itself. More often you need one page out of a long file, several files joined in a defined order, or pages turned the right way up after a scan. These tools restructure the PDF with pdf-lib in your browser: pages are copied between documents rather than rasterised, so text stays selectable and quality is unchanged.

Common reasons to reach for these

• Only the first page of a statement or invoice needs to be sent on.
• Several scanned files should arrive as a single attachment in a set order.
• A phone scan came out sideways or upside down.
• A document contains information you would rather not upload anywhere.

Structural edits, not re-rendering

Extracting, merging, and rotating copy page objects from one document into another. Fonts, vector artwork, and embedded images are carried across untouched, so there is no generational quality loss and file size stays roughly proportional to the pages you kept. This also means a merged file inherits the quirks of its sources: a 300 MB scan does not shrink because it was merged.

What is not carried over

Interactive features are the common casualty. Form fields, digital signatures, bookmarks, annotations, and document-level JavaScript may not survive a merge or extraction, and an encrypted or password-protected PDF cannot be opened at all without the password. Check the output before discarding the original, particularly for anything signed or legally operative.
